Terrebonne, April 8, 1999 The Real Estate company Ivanhoe just concluded an agreement with Cinémas Guzzo to open a 14-hall cinema complex in Longueuil's Place Jacques-Cartier Shopping Centre. The final contract was signed on Wednesday March 31, 1999. Following an agreement in principle concluded with Ivanhoe last December, the project of opening a cinema complex in Longueuil has already been announced by Mr. Vincenzo Guzzo, executive vice president of Cinémas Guzzo. The finalizing of the deal means the construction of MÉGA-PLEX® PLACE JACQUES-CARTIER 14 will begin on May 1st, 1999. The opening of this new cinema complex should create about 75 direct and indirect jobs. The complex is scheduled to be inaugurated next October. « Le maire de Longueuil, M. Claude Gladu, et le directeur général de la ville, M. Massimo Iezzoni ont tout mis en ouvre afin que le projet d’un Méga-Plex Guzzo voit le jour à Longueuil. La collaboration de la Société immobilière Ivanhoé nous a également permis de réaliser ce projet », a souligné M. Vincenzo Guzzo. With its 50,000 square feet of area, including 20,000 square feet of new facilities added to the existing structure, MÉGA-PLEX® PLACE JACQUES-CARTIER 14 will be the largest family-oriented cinema complex in Longueuil. It will include fourteen cinema halls, a Café-Hollywood and an amusement area complete with bumping cars, bowling and video games as well as a kiddy park. The architect of the new complex is Mr. Frank G. Mc Grath of Gestions Archifin. Mrs. Connie Mattia of Mattia Design will design the facilities. The decor for the entire Mega-Plex will be based on an Outer Space theme, very popular with the cinema-going public today. No other cinema complex in Longueuil compares with MÉGA-PLEX® PLACE JACQUES-CARTIER 14 for its sophisticated technology as regards on-screen and sound projection. State-of-the-art equipment includes Dolby Digital, SDDS Digital and DTS Digital systems. In addition, each hall is equipped with curved screens that eliminate fuzzy zones at the screen's outer edges and optimize image projection. In addition, the rows of seats in the "Club Guzzo 23 pouces" are equipped with a cup holder and arranged to ensure excellent visibility and comfort for all cinemagoers. In 1998, Cinémas Guzzo inaugurated Cinéma des Sources 10 in Dollard-des-Ormeaux, MÉGA-PLEX® TASCHEREAU 18 in Greenfield Park and MÉGA-PLEX® PONT-VIAU 16 in Laval. The company intends to pursue expansion with MÉGA-PLEX® SPHERETECH 14, scheduled to open in May in Ville Saint-Laurent, and another cinema complex to be opened between now and the end of the year in the Chomedey district. As of the year 2000, Cinémas Guzzo intends to open other complexes in the Québec City region, and expansion projects for Italy are currently being discussed with Real Estate compagny Ivanhoe.
